What To Look For in an Overcoat

<p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p>XLHangers.com</p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p>

Overcoat Time

Men's overcoats are making a comeback, and, of course, our product can handle the heaviest version of one without breaking a sweat.  But if you're in a cold-weather area, and in the mood to cut a dashing figure, here's what to look for:

  • If you can afford it, have your coat tailored.  Nothing will make you look more like you raided your daddy's closet like an ill-fitting overcoat.
  • Dress for your height.  Don't compensate for short legs with a long coat.  A full-length coat should hit you in the lower part of the shins.
  • Invest in a coat for your coat:  Waterproofing is worth it.  A good layer will keep you dry, and protect the fabric for season to come.
  • Classic need not equal boring.  An overcoat in blue, black, grey, or tan will serve you best in the long term, and you can always accessorize with a colorful scarf.

Product Suggetion: Academic Regalia

<p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p><p>XLHangers.com</p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p></p>

Pomp and Circumstance

If you think teaching college is easy, try wearing that heavy robe and cap for hours at an outdoor graduation ceremony on a hot June day.  All those heavy drapings college teachers wear--together, it's called "academic regalia"-- might look impressive, but it's almost impossible to store.  Those

mortarboards, once crushed, are unfixable, and the

robes are easily wrinkled.

Cap_gown

Some teachers, out of storage space in their own homes, keep their regalia in their offices, where it's subject to damage just as much in their own closets.   Our hangers are a smart choice for these profs!   Even though it's the start of the semester, you'll look great at graduation by teaming with us.

Congratulations to the Giants!

One of our clients, the New York Giants, defeated the Packers to win the NFC Championship on Sunday.  That means they're headed to the Super Bowl next month to take on the Patriots.  Congratulations, guys!

The Pile

What To Do With Those Old Wire Hangers?

Our clients are well aware that once you've tried our product, there's no going back to flimsy wire hangers which dent up your clothes and send them to the floor of the closet!  But what to do with them once you've transformed your closet to a clothes-happy place?  There's more you can do than just relegate them to punching through a plastic trash bag!

  • Consider donating them to a local Boy/Girl Scout, American Girls, or Campfire Girls troop.   They can always use them for crafts or (the best use of all!) to toast marshmallows.
  • In the same way, local churches, day care centers, YMCA's or schools might be happy to have the hangers for craft classes or study activities.  How else are those kids going to make mobiles?
  • Your city or county recycling department might take them off your hands-- and some even pay for metal!
  • Check around with local homeless shelters or thrift shops to see if hangers are needed.
  • Doesn't your deck or porch need a nice wind chime, trellis, or wreath frame?
  • A local dry cleaner may be happy to have them.

Donation Tips

<p><p><p>XLHangers.com</p></p></p>

Where To Go With It?

At this point in the New Year, some of us have likely done some closet and wardrobe purging-- some in a spate of closet organization, some to make room for new items snapped up in after-Christmas sales.  Now what do you do?

Several charities are thrilled to take those legwarmers, stirrup pants, and outgrown blouses from your doorstep.  But who to trust?

Some people prefer to hold a yard sale, and either treat themselves to reorganization hardware or a budget break with the money.  Others take the cash and pass it on to a charity they trust.

But if you live in an apartment, or would like to bypass strangers asking how much you're charging for the garden hose you hid on the back porch, consider donating directly to a reputable charity.  We're all familiar with Goodwill and the Salvation Army, but there are other options as well, such as the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple HeartDress for Success accepts business attire for low-income women seeing work.  Churches in your area may directly support families in need, so ask around.

If you're intrigued by a new or lesser-known charity, always do your homework; unfortunately, scams abound.  This website is invaluable in the art of the double-check.  You'll find everything you'll need to know, from verifying the charity's existence to checking out much of its donations are lost to overhead.  Happy tossing-- and giving!

On Fire For Our Clients!

<p><p><p><p><p><p><p>XLHangers.com</p></p></p></p></p></p></p>

Cherry Hill Fire Department

The Cherry Hill Fire Department is one of our favorite clients; they provide fantastic community support, and we're thrilled that they find our hangers useful for their heavy equipment.

And they provide education, too!  Not only does the CHFD conduct such typical community events as seminars and training sessions, they care enough to answer even the smallest questions on their website.  Our favorite:

I saw a fire truck at the local supermarket, and some members of the crew   were inside buying food. Why do firefighters use the fire apparatus to tend   to non-emergency business?

To ensure the most effective service at the time of an emergency, our firefighter   crews must stay together during their entire shift. Our firefighters work 24-hour   shifts and have no scheduled meal breaks. They usually stop to pick up food   and supplies for the station. They maintain constant radio contact with the   fire dispatcher and will respond to an emergency regardless of their location   or non-emergency assignment.

There you have it, folks:  Your tax dollars truly at work.  The next time you see one of these fine folks in the market, toss some goodies in your cart for them-- or at the very least, hunt the crew down to say thank you.  Our hardworking neighbors in this dangerous line of work deserve at least a smile!

Love You In Your Birthday Suit!

One of our many corporate clients, Hanks Clothing, specializes in XL apparel.  Of course, our wide-shouldered hangers are great for the store's stock.  We hear all the time from customers who wear plus sizes and are thrilled to have found a hanger which doesn't pull their wardrobe out of shape.

Full-figured ladies might want to tune into a new show on Lifetime, How to Look Good Naked.  It's a half-hour program which features host Carson Kressley helping women to appreciate their bodies in a realistic and self-affirming fashion.  The show includes fitting tips, support wear suggestions, and an overall reality check.

Help For the Contenders

Snow My goodness, look at this picture of Sen. John Edwards campaigning in Iowa!  He's just one of many candidates who are braving some major snow across the state as they rush from town to town for today's caucus.  It's the first step in electing our new President this year-- and some campaigns are reporting that they literally have teams standing by with shovels and plows to make sure voters can make it out of the driveway.  With weather like this, they'll more than likely be welcome.

We think all of the candidates, Democrat or Republican, would benefit from our product.  All those different appointments and speeches, all that traveling, all that snow-- they must really need some fresh-looking clothes on standby.  Just ask one of our many clients; any outfit will look smooth and professional, no matter where it's been, no matter the weather.

Trust us.
